Boyd Design re-opened our offices this week and we are all back on deck, well rested and excited about the year ahead.
You may have noticed in the news that Virgin Mobile has been fined $22,000 for allegedly spamming customers who had opted out of getting marketing messages. This is a great reminder that if you are going to send an e-newsletter, make sure that you do it properly.
Email marketing is one of the oldest forms of internet marketing but it's still proving to be the most reliable and effective.
If you aren't doing it yet, it's time to start.
The first thing to do is to create some sort of incentive on your website to encourage visitors to leave their email address with you. On our website we offer a free e-book. Some companies run competitions, give away products or services or offer free membership to restricted areas of their website.
Once this is in place you need to collect the data in a system that can send the email for you. There are a number of options available. At the moment we think Mailchimp is the best option.
Using this system will ensure that your emails are compliant with the anti SPAM laws that govern email marketing in Australia.

Then it's just a matter of getting creative with some interesting newsletter content. Industry news, hints and tips, anything that your customers might find interesting or useful.
Even if you are not making direct sales from your email newsletters you are reminding your customers of what you do and that you will be available when they need you.
