Just when we got our heads around “Google Caffeine”, Google has released another major upgrade to it’s giant search engine. “Google Instant”.

What is Google Instant?

Google Instant is an update to the Google search box that actually predicts results as you type. This is a very cool trick, and will save you time typing in search terms, it will help you avoid spelling errors, and in the process of typing a search it will display a much higher number of results that will dynamically update as you type.

It’s a bit hard to explain in words so you should probably take a look at the video to get a better idea of what we are in for.

What will this mean for your Search Engine optimisation advertising campaign?

There is a lot of hype about Google Instant and how it will effect search engine optimisation. The thing to remember is that it only affects the way people view search results. It doesn’t change the way Google ranks changes. So your search engine rankings won’t suddenly disappear over night.

The first obvious change that I can see is that your Meta description and title will need to be even more catchy to attract clicks because as people search they are going to see a lot more results as they type.

This will change the playing field to some degree, but for now, I don’t think there are any major strategic changes to your SEO campaign required.
